On Our Radar: 5 of Our Favorite DJs

December 17, 2014

Here at PX Clothing, we like to step back every now and then and take a good look at what’s up in the world today. This time, we figured we’d take you into the perpetual party of electronica music and highlight five of the best DJs in the universe. In no particular order…

Skrillex. Once the front man of a touring rock band, this electro-house phenom ditched the rock scene in 2007 to pursue his true calling as an electronica mastermind.  At only 26 years old, Skrillex is barely in the prime of his career, but he’s already won a total of six Grammy Awards. He was named MTV’s Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year on 2011 and has eight killer releases under his belt so far.

Tiesto. The world’s favorite Dutch DJ has consistently been in the top 10 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 since 2001, has a Grammy nomination, and became the first DJ to perform live at the Olympics in 2004. Tiesto is best known for his groundbreaking solo debut album, In My Memory and is one of the world’s biggest advocates in the fight against AIDS.

Carl Cox. This living legend has been juggling beats since the 80s and still brings the party for kids in the U.K. even at the ripe age of 52. He owns two super successful record labels, Intec Records and Intec Digital, and has his own stage at Miami’s annual Ultra Music Festival.

A-Trak. At the age of 15, Alain Macklovitch stunned the world of electro-house and hip-hop by becoming the youngest winner of the DMC World DJ Championship in 1997. To take scratching to the next level, A-Trak developed a notation system for scratching and founded the famous Fool’s Gold Records in 2007. He has even worked side-by-side with the likes of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Travis Barker and released hundreds of mixtapes and stunning remixes.

Diplo. Last but definitely not least, theworld’s undisputed heavyweight champion of electronic dance music is Wesley Pentz, known to the world as Diplo. He’s worked with countless big names in pop music, including Snoop Lion, Beyoncé, No Doubt, Usher, and Bruno Mars. His signature mood-warping hooks and heart-wrenching choruses have helped him rise from sweaty house parties in Philly to his throne on the main stage at the Ultra Music Festival

Motorcycles and the Men Who Made Them Famous

December 02, 2014

The rumble of its engine breathes life into the meaning of “rugged.” A steel life house of raw, unrefined speed and power that thunders down the highway and makes its presence known to all like an ancient conqueror. Wild and unfettered, the motorcycle embodies the true essence of freedom, and those who ride one choose to take life by the handlebars and live loud, fast, and with purpose.
